Download Bandizip for Windows, macOS and ARM64
One 6 MB installer, no bundle, no account. Pick the build that matches the machine, then set two options that make it pleasant to live with.
Windows 7 to 11
The standard installer. Registers the Explorer context menu, file associations and the shell extension, and updates itself.
Windows on ARM
For Snapdragon laptops and Windows on ARM tablets. Same features, native binaries, no emulation layer.
Microsoft Store
Same application, installed inside the Windows sandbox. Updates are handled for you — the right choice on a managed laptop.
Bandizip for macOS
A separate application, distributed through the Mac App Store and notarised by Apple. Not the same licence as the Windows build.
Run BANDIZIP-SETUP.EXE /S for an unattended install, or BANDIZIP-SETUP.EXE /S /D=C:\Tools\Bandizip to choose the folder. /D must be last and takes no quotes.
System requirements
Nothing exotic: no runtime, no .NET, no codec pack.
| Platform | Supported versions | Architecture | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows | 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 | x86, x64, ARM64 | Server editions supported |
| macOS | Current App Store minimum | Apple silicon, Intel | Separate paid licence |
| Portable | Windows 7 and later | x86, x64 | No registry writes, settings beside the exe |
Two settings worth changing on day one
Turn on smart extraction
Settings → Archive → Extraction. Archives that already contain one folder stop producing a duplicate folder inside the destination.
Leave code page detection on
Settings → Code Page. This is what keeps filenames readable when an archive arrives from Korean, Japanese or Chinese Windows.
Turn off auto-open
Unless you extract one archive at a time, the folder-opening behaviour gets in the way of batch work. Set the overwrite policy to "ask" too.
